Southwest No Longer a Family Airline
Our friends at Southwest went a little over the top last week (depending on who you ask), by plastering a full body shot of the Sports Illustrated cover model Bar Rafeli smack in the center of a Boeing 737 airplane.
All the guys are cheering and lining up to buy their next Southwest round-trip ticket, right? Hey, I don’t blame you. In all honesty, I think this is a compelling viral marketing tactic and applaud Southwest for their creativity…except for the fact that I distinctly remember covering another newsworthy Southwest decision on the TripDoor blog last year. For those of you who remember, the airline removed a 23-year old Hooter’s waitress from her seat and off the plane because they felt her clothing was too provocative for the traditionally ‘family airline.’ Huh. I wonder which one of Southwest’s perverted uncles thought up this little ploy.
You tell me: which situation would you prefer for your seven-year old to encounter as he boards the plane?
