George Clooney stars in “Up in the Air”
I very rarely have an excuse to talk about Hollywood in a blog that is reserved predominately for frequent flyer and airline news - but today is an exception. According to my sources in Hollywood (I cannot divulge their identities so don’t ask), George Clooney and Vera Farmiga are co-starring in “Up in the Air,” a screenplay adapted from Walter Kirn’s novel about an HR executive whose life falls apart as he flies obsessively to collect more miles in order reach the millionth mile mark. Farmiga plays a woman falling in love with Clooney as she runs into him in various airports and hotels across the country.
The film got picked up by Paramount Pictures and will start shooting in late February in St. Louis, Miami and Las Vegas.
We are excited that Paramount will be bringing frequent flyer miles to the forefront of the film industry. It will be interesting to see if this movie will help reinvigorate frequent flyers’ passion for their miles. And if there’s anybody who can incite passion, it’s George Clooney. Oooh la la!
