TechStars San Francisco Style
Today Travelfli presented at the second TechStars Investor day held at the Microsoft offices in Mountain View, California. I know I gushed about what a great job all of the companies did in the first demo, but I think I can safely say that everybody stepped it up ANOTHER notch in Silicon Valley and impressed the heck out of me, and hopefully all of the investors in attendance! Since this year was the first opportunity for TechStars to present in California, several companies from 2007 were invited to participate. Following the lead of SocialThing which was acquired by AOL several week ago, Intense Debate announced that they have been acquired by Automattic (creator of Wordpress), and Madkast by ShareThis. If you do the math you’ll quickly find that 30% of the 2007 Techstars companies have already been acquired! (Read: TechStars are a good, solid, worthwhile investment. Invest now, before it’s too late!)

I’ve got to hand it to David Cohen, Brad Feld, Jared Polis and David Brown for handpicking and cranking out some killer companies in ’07! I can’t imagine that it’s easy to pick the right ones at such an early stage, but the founders of TechStars have developed the instinct to detect solid business concepts and the influence to lead effectively.
