Dreary News From Continental

News Flash: Continental Airlines has responded to the recent frequent flyer program changes airlines have instituted…by instituting the same changes. Ugh.

First and foremost, Continental will charge $15 for the first checked bag. Heard that one before. Next.

Members will now earn the actual miles flown on shorter flights rather than 500 minimum miles. US Airways did this a couple of months ago. Next.

Continental is increasing mileage requirements from North America to Tel Aviv, of all places. Mkkay….next.

Last but not least (drum roll please), Continental is reducing elite bonus miles for Silver and Platinum members. They will go from 125% to 100% for the former and from 50% to 25% for the latter. On the bright side (there is always a bright side, right?) at least they didn’t end elite bonuses like US Airways.

Thanks for tuning in to Debbie Downer…you can now go back to your regularly scheduled broadcast.
