Please Take Your Laptop Out Of The Bag…Or Not

At the beginning of July, the Transoportation Security Administration (TSA) ok’d the use of specialized laptop bags that will eliminate the annoyance of having to dig your computer out of your carry-on to run it through security. Nice.

Today’s laptop cases are made out of bulky material that make it hard for the TSA to see what is inside and often contain a variety of computer clutter such as power cords, batteries, etc.

Tommorow’s cases sport a fold-down section within a bigger case or an insert sleeve that can be easily evaluated in the xrays.

To be expected, there are a handful of companies (ok, 60) that are rushing to go to market with the perfect “checkpoint-friendly” bag. Prototypes for a variety of bags are currently being tested at Dulles, Austin-Bergstrom and Ontario.

Stay tuned for more details on when and where you can buy these slick bags that will make airport travel just a bit easier.
