Progress…Brought to you by Southwest

You heard it here first: good news from the travel industry.
Southwest announced today their intentions to become an INTERNATIONAL carrier…well, sort of. They’re going to start flying to Canada via a codeshare with WestJet…in 18 months. This is good news though! The partnership will eventually open up an array of low fares across the U.S./Canadian border. Seeing as how WestJet is Canada’s leading low-cost provider and Southwest holds the same title in the United States, It seems reasonable that this pair create a low cost fare option into Canada.
The two airlines haven’t publicly announced fare or route information, but it sounds like the partnership is all but finalized.
So if you’re like me and you’ve been stalling on that winter ski trip to Whistler, hold out another year and a half and it may become an inexpensive reality.
